Leonville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville for Steven Louis Richard, Sr., 61, who passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Jena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:30 pm until 10:00 pm on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
Rev. Darren Eldridge will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Scripture will be read by Mary Landry and Lisa Guidroz. Gift Bearers will be his children, Stephanie R. Guidry and Joshua Richard.
Interment will follow at St. Leo the Great Cemetery in Leonville.
Steven loved playing the guitar, working on hot rod cars, and gathering with his family and friends. When he played his guitar, he was in his element and liked that everyone enjoyed
having a good time.
He is survived by his three sons, Steven Richard, Jr. of LaPlace, Sidney (companion, Raven Clark) Richard of Lafayette, Joshua Richard of St. Martinville; daughter, Stephanie R. (Joseph " Yancy") Guidry of Lafayette; three brothers, Paul (Jeanette) Richard of Arnaudville, Lester (Yvonne) Richard of Cecilia, Jeffery (companion, Olivia) Richard of Krotz Springs; three sisters, Mary Jane Allemond of Ville Plate, Vivian Richard of Lockport, Connie (Harris) Bergeron of Arnaudville; one grandchild, Hunter Richard, and his sister-in-law/caregiver, Suzanne Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Virgie Marie Richard; son, Hunter Broussard; brother, Eugene, Wilson and Melvin Richard.
Pallbearers will be his son, Steven Richard, Jr., his brother, Jeffery Richard, Sr., Jeffery Richard, Jr., John Richard, Charles Richard and Marcus Richard.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Stephanie R. Guidry, Joshua Richard, Lester Richard, Paul Richard, and David Guidroz.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Mary Knott Landry, Linda Gross, Donna Martin with Hope Hospice, Lafayette General Medical Center and their staff, and Jena Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion.
