Sydney Cecile 'Shu Shu' Minvielle

New Iberia - A Memorial Service will be held at 3:15 PM, on Friday, July 1, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Sydney Cecile "Shu Shu" Minvielle, 71, who passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 3:00 PM. Rev. Mario Romero will officiate. Interment will follow at a later date. Shu Shu was born in New Iberia on March 24, 1945, to Sidney DeCoux and Celine Babineaux DeCoux. She was a lifelong resident of New Iberia, and was a teacher for many years in both the public and private school sectors. After retirement, Shu Shu became a certified yoga instructor, and taught classes for 15 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed. Shu Shu is survived by her husband, Andrew Minvielle of New Iberia; daughter, Stephanie Minvielle of Baton Rouge; son, Michael Andrew Minvielle, Sr. and wife Wendy of Sugar Land, TX; two grandchildren, Rachel Minvielle of Sugar Land, TX, and Michael Andrew Minvielle, II of Hammond, LA; a sister, Dorothy Boudreaux and husband Louis of New Iberia; and two brothers, Paul DeCoux and wife Louise of New Iberia, and Allen DeCoux and partner, Charlene Pritchard of Lafayette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane DeCuir, and Estelle Landry. The family would like to thank Dr. Giles Fort and his staff and the Womans Hospital GYN/Oncology department for their exceptional care.
