Breaux Bridge, Louisiana- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 2, 2023 at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Tara N. Bernard, 49, who passed away on May 29, 2023 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. 
 
A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday June 1, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM.

 A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Thursday. 
 
Fr. Garrett McIntryre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Jennifer Maslowski and Connor Bernard.  Gift bearers will be Shannon Metcalf and Christy Wyble.

Interment will follow at a later date at St. Bernard Cemetery#2.

Tara Nicole Bernard, a resident of Breaux Bridge who passed away on May 29, 2023, at the age of 49. She was born on October 28th, 1973 in Arnaudville.

Tara had faced many challenges from a very young age after being diagnosed with a disability but never let it interfere with living her life to the fullest. She took pride in being independent and never let anyone place limits on what she could achieve. Tara graduated from high school and completed twelve years of education.

She was a cheerful person who loved spending time with family and friends. Her lovable and kind personality brought joy to those around her and she will be missed dearly. Tara had a love for game shows like The Price is Right and The Match Game, which she enjoyed watching with her loved ones. She was also passionate about sports, particularly cheering for LSU and the Saints.

Tara loved to listen to music, dance or throw the football around with her nephew Connor. Her love for cartoons like Bugs Bunny always shone through and she never failed to amuse everyone by quoting some of her favorite punchlines. Additionally, playing cards was her favorite hobby; there was always a deck of cards which traveled everywhere with her.

She is survived by her parents, Barron and Debbie Bernard; brother, Dax (Jennifer Maslowski) Bernard; nephew, Connor Bernard; aunt, Shannon Metcalf; aunt, Renella (Cliff) Berard; uncle, Dave and Nona Hardy; uncle, Allen "Kookie" Speight; aunt, Patsy (Rob) Belvins; uncle, Richard Huval; and her aunt, Maureen Hardy.
 
She is preceded in death by her brother, Dustin Slade Bernard; paternal grandparents, Andrew and Odette Cormier Bernard; maternal grandparents, John and Audrey Tauzin Hardy; aunt, Marelle Huval; uncle, Reggie Hardy and her uncle and aunt Don and JeanNell Breaux. 

Pallbearers will be Jeff Addison, Quentin Huval, Dane Hardy, Hunter Hardy, Blake Huval and McKenna Bergeron. 
 
Honorary pallbearers will be Dax Bernard, Connor Bernard, Dave Hardy, Richard Huval and Christy Wyble. 

 The family would like to extend a special thanks to Oschner-St. Martin Hospital and staff, ICU at Lafayette General, and the staff at St. Joseph Carpenter House for their kindness and compassion in these trying times.  Also, a very special thank you to all of Tara's caregivers for the love and patience. 

You weren't like other children,
