Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Thelma Marie Celestine, 92, who passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016, in Breaux Bridge. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Thelma enjoyed sewing, cooking, cleaning, working in her flower beds and gardening. She also liked working in the fields, picking cotton and growing sweet potatoes and other vegetables. Thelma loved serving her God and going to church on a weekly basis. She will be remembered as a good mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Thelma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sons, Russell Celestine of Jennings, Roy Celestine and wife Mary of Cecilia, Calvin Celestine of Breaux Bridge and Sidney Celestine, Jr. and wife Ruth of New Iberia; daughters, Theresa Dalcourt and husband Clifford of Breaux Bridge, Mary Joe of Houston, TX and Mary Nell Robicheaux and husband Ivory of Houston, TX; 29 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and sisters, Beatrice Derousselle and Rose Noel both of Breaux Bridge. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney Celestine, Sr.; parents, Henry and Antonia Noel Alex; brothers, Arthur and Dalton Alex; sister, Daisy Marie Sylvester; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Clifford Dalcourt, Jr., Carol Sylvester, Francis Dalcourt, Daniel Morrison, Anthony Robicheaux, and Donnaray Noel. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Celestine, Jr., Kenneth Celestine, Johnny Celestine, Michael Robicheaux, David Morrison, and Brandon Joe. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at St. Agnes Nursing Home and to Hospice of Acadiana, for all of their care and compassion.
