Thelma Marie Peltier Lopez was born in Iberia Parish, Louisiana on June 23, 1941, to the late Otto and Lula LeBouef Peliter. She was an excellent cook who never followed a recipe, and made sure everyone was fed. She worked in the cafeteria for Iberia Parish Schools for 34 years and took pride in how she served the students.
Ms. Lopez became a Born Again Christian, then her entire life centered around her faith. She was very active in her ladies’ prayer group; she enjoyed gospel music and attending prayer meetings.
Thelma loved to dance and could dance to anything. She was a simple lady who enjoyed taking care of her house and her car and helping care for her grandchildren. Time spent with her family was what she cherished most.
Ms. Lopez is survived by children, Sherrel Bonin (companion, Dexter Miguez), Michael “Lee” Lopez, Ramond Decoux (Eddie), and Thomas Lopez (Raeven); brother, Forrest Peltier (Sue); sisters, Margie Blankenship and Mary Jane Dorsey (Eddie); grandchildren, Brandie Norris (Toby), Brandon Bonin, Braidon Bonin (Angel), Raven Breaux (Tommy), Dodie Decoux, Eddie Decoux, Jr., Chase Decoux (Brooke), Rocky Decoux, and Brandt Lopez; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Percy Peltier, Fred Peltier, Linda Manuel, Sally LeCamus, and Horace Peltier.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Decoux, Jr., Chase Decoux, Rocky Decoux, Brandon Bonin, Braidon Bonin, and Noah Norris.
Honorary pallbearers are Lee Lopez and Thomas Lopez.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Southern Grace Hospice for extraordinary care.
