; New Iberia - Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Thomas J. Medver, Jr., 78, who died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Lafayette. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 7:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. ; ; A native of Weeks Island, Mr. Medver was born on May 1, 1935, and was a lifelong area resident. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and worked at the Morton Salt Company for over 40 years. Mr. Medvers hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing and coaching baseball, and watching all sports, especially college football. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ronnie Hulin Medver of Lydia; children, Susan Medver Wilkes and husband Mike of Shreveport, Jane Medver Holden and husband Keith of Niceville, FL, Thomas J. Medver, III and wife Angie of New Iberia, Joan Medver Arledge and husband Will of Youngsville, Quintin Medver and wife Kendy of New Iberia; brother, Carl Medver and wife Violet of New Iberia; sister, Shirley Bonin of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Heather Buteau, Heidi Trahan and husband Dean, Ann Claire Holden, Thomas Holden, Tera Broussard, Jamie Marcel and husband Marcus, Abby Arledge, Emily Arledge, Austin Medver, Madison Medver; great grandchildren, Claudia Blackwell, Chole Labit, Holly Romero, Evan Marcel, Olivia Marcel, and Zachery Broussard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Medver, Sr., and Irene Hebert Medver. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of AMG Speciality Hospital, in Lafayette, and to Rachel at Iberia Medical Center for their extraordinary care and support.
