Thomas "Tom" Smith

New Iberia – Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Thomas “Tom” Smith, 90, who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Entombment will follow in the Beau Pre Cemetery, in Jeanerette.

Mr. Paul Fontenot will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Pellerin Funeral Home.

A longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Smith was born on August 31, 1935, in Oakdale, to the late Thomas Beatty Smith and Sauzaune Smythe Smith. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Texaco after 47 years of service. Mr. Smith was an avid LSU fan, but most of all he loved watching his grandkids play sports.

Survivors include his children, Toni Tauzin (Troy) of New Iberia and Tommy Smith (Theonie) of New Iberia; grandchildren, Thomas B. Smith, III (Sydney), Allison Delahoussaye (Colby), Abby Smith (fiancé Evan Hebert), Hannah Tauzin, Gannon Tauzin, and Tanner Tauzin (fiancé Addi Landry); great grandchildren, Benjamin Thomas Delahoussaye and Samuel Robert Delahoussaye; and a sister, Margaret Sauzaune Fambrough.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 44 years, Betty Coffman Smith.

Pallbearers Gannon Tauzin, Tanner Tauzin, Thomas B. Smith, III, Troy Tauzin, Evan Hebert and Colby Delahoussaye.
