Timothy Woerner was born in Laon, France on August 18, 1961 and died peacefully in his home with his wife and daughter by his side July 17, 2016 at the age of 54.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Highland Baptist Church, 607 Victory Drive, in New Iberia. Private entombment will be at a later date in Holy Family Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
Tim was a caring and faithful husband and is survived by his wife of 32 years, Tamara Ray Woerner.
Tim was a loving and wonderful father and he often spoke with pride about his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Tyler James Woerner (wife Valerie), Leah Naomi Woerner, and Seth Allen Woerner; and grandchildren Vivienne Mae Woerner and Vana James Woerner.
His service and work ethic were formed in his early years growing up as a pastors son with one foot always in the service of the church. Surviving are his parents Rev. Elie Woerner and Glenda Woerner and brother David Jean Woerner (wife Shelia).
Tim will be remembered as an energetic, creative, and fun-loving husband, father, son and friend.
He held a career in telecommunication for over 30 years earning a reputation as a skilled and hard worker. He also had a heart for others and served as a deacon at Highland Baptist Church and was instrumental in establishing the American Belarus Relief Organization in South Louisiana, a ministry that continues to help children today.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Woerner, Seth Woerner, David Woerner, Adam Woerner and Luke Woerner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Adcock and Terry Perow.
The Woerner family would like to give a special thanks for all the loving gestures made by Hospice of Acadiana, the Highland Baptist Church body, and friends who comforted and cared for Tim in his last days.
In lieu of flowers Tim has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
