New Iberia – A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2514 Old Jeanerette Road, New Iberia, honoring the life of Tom Michael Moncla, 77, of Lafayette, who passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 8:00 am until 11:30 am.
A native of Patoutville, Tom was born on October 20, 1948, to the late Maurice Sonny and Mildred Myers Moncla. He was a 1966 graduate of Catholic High and a graduate of Lamar University, in Beaumont. Tom proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda Decuir Moncla; children, Michelle Mills (Denver) and Kevin Moncla; grandchildren, Hope Vernon (Jessie) and Anna Moncla; sisters-in-law, Girdie Moncla, Andrea “Andy” Palmer, Laurie Barake (Ali), and Virginia Shea (Jimmy); brothers-in-law, Richard Young, Perry Decuir, Jr. (Jennifer) and Tom Decuir (Tess).
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Moncla; sister, Millie Young; nephew, Scott Moncla; father and mother-in-law, Perry and Lois Prosper Decuir, Sr; brothers-in-law, Timothy Decuir and Joel Palmer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jody Badeaux, Jimmy Shea, Ali Barake, Woodrow Gondron, Jr., Denver Mills, Perry Decuir, Jr. and Tom Decuir.
A heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Acadiana, Tom’s caregivers, Vivian, Shae, Michelle and Ronnie and Linda’s sisters, Virginia Shea, Laurie Barake and Andy Palmer, for their constant love and support, especially for the past four years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
