St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church honoring the life of Ulysses J. Lasseigne, Sr., 93, who passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at The Calcutta House in Lafayette.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm.
A Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 am on Wednesday.
Father Jason Vidrine will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Kristina Bernard and Brandie Menard.
Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Born on July 24, 1932, in St.Martinville, Ulysses was a proud lifelong resident of the area who made significant contributions to his community through his work, faith, and friendships.
As a dedicated carpenter, Ulysses owned Las's Construction and Cabinets by Las, a testament to his craftsmanship and skill. He was particularly known for his impressive cabinet building and for constructing several homes that have become cherished parts of St. Martin Parish.
A devout parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, Ulysses devoted his time to service in the community, embodying the spirit of generosity as a member of the Knights of Columbus and serving in various capacities within the Lion's Club. His culinary talents shone brightly as well; he loved to cook and owned La Cuisine Lasseigne in St. Martinville for a period of time. Beyond his love of cooking, Ulysses found immense joy in Cajun dance, celebrating life with every step.
Ulysses leaves behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Ulysses "Joey" Lasseigne, Jr. (Jenny); daughters, Alyson Evans (Glenn) and Amelia Lasseigne; son-in-law, Mickey Poirrier; step-son, Orsen Daigle, Jr. (Gina); step-daughter, Bonita Mestayer (Chris); brother, Gerald Lasseigne; sister-in-law, Anne Lasseigne; grandchildren, Joshua Melancon, Meagan Borel (Clay), Jardyn Dupuis, Aimie LeBlanc (Torey), Luke Horn, Jr. (Tana), Joel Horn, Danine Horn, Brianne Horn, Logan Daigle (Whitney), Myles Manuel, Connor Manuel, Kirsten Mestayer, Dustin Daigle (Rebecca), Brandi Daigle, Bethany Jones (Luke), Kristina Bernard (Kyle) and Adrianne Poirrier; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethel Pellerin Lasseigne; daughters, Alicia Poirrier and Tina Lasseigne; granddaughter, Hailey Michelle Melancon; step-son, Richard Daigle; parents, Stanley Lasseigne and Marie Melancon Lasseigne; sister, Grace Sonnier; and brother, Michael Lasseigne.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Melancon, Luke Horn, Jr., Luke Horn, III, Butch Dore', Kyle Bernard and Myles Manuel.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mickey Poirrier and Joel Horn.
