St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Union Baptist Church for Unella Polk Landry, 89, who passed away on February 15, 2026, at Iberia Medical Center.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 7:00 AM to 10:15 AM.
Rev. Darren Benoit will officiate at the funeral service. Burial will follow at House of Love Cemetery.
Unella was born on September 20, 1936, in New Iberia. A devoted homemaker, Unella's warmth and kindness were felt by everyone who knew her. She found joy and purpose in her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.Throughout her life, she demonstrated exceptional strength and resilience, balancing her responsibilities while working at Peppers Unlimited. Unella took pride in cooking for her family, sewing beautiful creations, and challenging her mind with crossword puzzles-a passion she shared with those around her.
Family gatherings filled with laughter and love were the highlight of her life, as she always opened her home to her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts. She will be deeply missed.
Unella leaves to celebrate her life with her husband of 68 years, Edward Landry, Sr.; seven children, Edward Landry, Jr., Therald Landry (Veronica), Kevin Landry (Tatanya), Beverly Landry, Sheryl Martin (Samuel), Darlene Louis (Willie), and Mary Jones (Johnny); siblings, Charylene Wyrick (Jimmy) of Lancaster, CA, Marlene Barras (Wendell) of Houston, TX, Theresa Tuner (Edward) of Los Angeles, CA, Jessie Smith-Jones, and Vincent Smith (Shirley) of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will missed her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Satisfield and Juzela Lewis Polk; sisters, Shirley Thibodeaux, Irene Brown, Adeline Polk, Hazel Henry, Alma Polk, Betty Spears, and Lillian Polk; brothers, Herman Polk, Sr., Albert Polk, Sr. Whitney Polk, Clarence Polk, Sr., Roland Broussard, Harold Polk, and Pollin Smith; and two grandchildren, Steven George and Joanett Jones.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Jones, Derrick George, Joshua Martin, Edward Landry, III, Jaylon Martin, and Holland Landry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Landry, Johnny Jones, Samuel Martin, Kevin Landry, Edward Landry, Jr., and Willie Louis.
