Valerie Laxson Poole

New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Valerie Laxson Poole, 66, who passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at her residence in Broussard.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Paul Fontenot will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday, from 10:00 am until 12 Noon, at Pellerin Funeral Home.

A native of New Iberia, Valerie was born on September 24, 1959, to the late Norma Eretrea Abdalla and Shelby Allen Laxson, Jr. She was a 1978 graduate of New Iberia Senior High and attended LSU. Valerie was a buyer for the Gift Department, at Abdallas. She enjoyed sewing, shopping, gardening and taking care of her yard. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her granddaughter, Reagan.

Survivors include her daughter, Christina Poole Kilcrease (Jacob) of Bossier City; sister, Neal Cockrell (Michael) of Port Barre; granddaughter, Reagan Kilcrease; stepsister, Cyndi Foust of Calhoun; niece, Jennifer Duplechin (Jake) of Lafayette; and great nephews, Jarrett Duplechin and Gavin Duplechin.

She was preceded in death by her mother Norma Abdalla Huck; father, Shelby Allen "Billy" Laxson, Jr; and her stepfather, Jerry Huck.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Kilcrease, Jarrett Duplechin, Gavin Duplechin, Kermit “Mousy” Comeaux, and Michael Cockrell.
