Breaux Bridge, Louisiana- A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 15, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, for Verlie Mae Roberts, 78, who passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, in Breaux Bridge.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
Rev. George Bede Ajuruchi, SSJ will officiate at the funeral service. The reader will be Eva Narcisse.
Verlie Mae Roberts, affectionately known as VP, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, in Breaux Bridge, at the age of 78. Her departure leaves an immense void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. She was a remarkable person whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who crossed her path.
Born on August 26, 1944, VP led a life filled with compassion, kindness, and selflessness. She dedicated many years of her life working as a painter for St. Martin Parish School system, ensuring that the educational facilities were ready for students' return from summer vacation. Her dedication to her work reflected her commitment to providing a nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
Known for her generous spirit, VP was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off her back without hesitation. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she touched countless lives through her acts of kindness and benevolence.
VP had many passions and interests that brought joy to her life. She loved going to the casino, finding excitement in the thrill of chance. Entertaining family and friends was another source of happiness for VP - she had a knack for creating joyful memories through gatherings filled with laughter and love. Shopping, dancing, cooking - all these activities filled VP's days with delight. She cherished her independence and embraced life with an infectious spirit.
Above all else, Verlie took immense pride in raising her children with love and dedication. She equipped them with the tools they needed to succeed in life, instilling in them values that have shaped them into remarkable individuals today. Verlie's nurturing guidance has left an indelible mark on their lives forever.
VP's final moments were spent surrounded by her loved ones as they shared precious memories and expressed their gratitude for the impact she had on their lives. Her passing leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts.
Verlie Mae Roberts touched our lives with her unwavering love, selflessness, and zest for living. She will forever remain in our hearts as an inspiration for us to embrace each day with gratitude and compassion. May her soul find eternal peace as we cherish the beautiful memories she created within us.
She is survived by her husband, James Nathan Henry; daughter, Lafernette (Chad) Broussard; sons, John Craig (Avenelle) Patt, James (Leslie) Patt, Ignatius (Beverly) Patt, and Sebastian (Checquolin) Patt; grandchildren, Trent, Kendra, Chelsea, Katelyn, Victoria, Daijha, Ignatius, Damon, De-Andre, Nejal, Christian, Nigel, Sage and Kimber and her 7 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Bernice D. Roberts; her son, Raphael Omar Roberts; brothers, Calvin, Melvin, Alphonse, and Joseph Roberts; sisters, Eula Mae Roberts, Annie Mae Singleton, Elsie Gordon, and Anna Rose Mouton; granddaughter, Miriah Arceneaux.
Pallbearers will be Nigel Patt, Sage Chevalier, Christian Patt, Ignatius Patt, John Gordon and Drake Roberts.
Pellerin Funeral Home, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517 (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
