Vernon "Boun" Escoyne

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026, at St. Bernard Catholic Church honoring the life of Vernon "Boun" Escoyne, 67, who passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center.

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm.

A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am on Friday morning.

Father Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be his sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Dwight Gilliland.

Born on August 6, 1959, in St. Martinville, Vernon was a man who embodied the spirit of a free soul. Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, he brought joy to every room he entered. A jack of all trades, Vernon navigated various jobs throughout his life. He was passionate about music, serving as the board controller for the Nik-L-Beer Band. Vernon lived a life filled with laughter, creativity, and the simple joys of existence. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his daughter, Hillary Savoy (Gerald); granddaughter, Elena Escoyne; great-grandson, Asher Detraz; and sisters, Gwen Gilliland (Dwight), Yvette Bourque (Harold) and Angela Guidry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Escoyne and JoAnn LeBlanc Escoyne.

Pallbearers will be Avery Castille, Gerald Savoy, Hunter Savoy, and Harold Bourque.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Abel-Paul Bonin.
