It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virgie Toups Landry, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on November 6, 2025. Virgie was born on December 21, 1947, in Delcambre, Louisiana. She dedicated her life to nurturing young minds as a teacher's aide, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and their families.
Virgie was a vibrant spirit, known for her love of coffee chats with her best friend, Judy Frey, and her second daughter, Michelle Pelous, as well as cherished conversations with her sister, Mona Gale. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-especially spending time with her beloved granddaughters, Abby and Anna. She loved family gatherings filled with laughter, a good crawfish boil, and she never turned down a sweet treat. Whether she was babysitting her grand pup, Cayenne, or passionately cheering for the Breaux Bridge Sr. High School football team alongside her friend, Moose, Virgie lived each day with warmth and enthusiasm. Her weekends spent at the family camp in Henry and delightful trips to Grand Isle with her loved ones were a testament to her love for family and nature. Though she is no longer with us, the warmth she shared and the love she gave will never fade.
She is survived by her husband, Clayton A. Landry; sons, Randy Landry (Erin) and Christopher Landry; daughter, Ashley Landry Dauzat (Jason); brothers, Michael Toups, Eddie Toups (Elizabeth "Liz"), and Jace Toups (Nita); sister, Mona Landry (Allen); grandchildren, Abby and Anna Landry; and in-laws, Norman (Elaine) Landry, Wade (Jean) Landry, Gene (Renella) Landry, Ray Paul Landry, and Vicky Hebert.
She is preceded in death by her parents, L. J. "Jay" and Lula Mae Sonnier Toups; son, Brian Landry; parents-in-law, Wade and Agnes Angelle Landry; and in-laws, Anthony "Tanny" Hebert, Richard Landry, Ira Landry, Mary Nell (Earl) Champagne, Fabian "Faye" LeBlanc, Patricia "Patsy" (Raymond) LeBlanc, and Diane B. Toups.
Pallbearers will be Mike, Eddie, and Jace Toups, Jason Dauzat, Randy Landry, and Nick Hebert.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher and Scott Landry.
The family deeply appreciates the dedicated care provided by Dr. Debra Durham, Dr. Yazdi, Dr. Horaist, and the entire teams at The Carpenter House and Acadian Homecare. Their compassion and support brought comfort to Virgie and her family during a difficult time, and their kindness will always be remembered with gratitude.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Virgie Landry's name to St. Joseph Hospice & The Carpenter House, 923 W. Pinhook Rd., Lafayette, LA 70503.
