Cooking was not just a hobby for Virley; it was a profound passion that reflected her love for her family and community. Renowned for her cabbage rolls, fried chicken, and stuffed shrimp, she often cooked enough to feed the entire neighborhood, ensuring that no one left her home without a plate in hand. Every meal prepared was a labor of love, infused with her trademark kindness and thoughtfulness. For Virley, cooking was a way to gather people together, and her home became a sanctuary of nourishment and laughter.
Virley possessed a remarkable green thumb and loved her flowers. She cultivated vibrant blooms that served as a testament to her nurturing spirit and love for life. Her garden was a place of joy and tranquility, a reflection of her personality that blossomed in every aspect.
Family was the cornerstone of Virley’s life. She held her loved ones close, delighting in the unique personalities of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, often sharing stories that bridged generations.
Mrs. DeRouen is survived by children, Wanda DeRouen, Gina Dorsey, Angie Etie (Travis), Dave DeRouen (Lisa), and Ricky DeRouen; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
