Wayne Paul LeBlanc

Wayne Paul LeBlanc was born on Tuesday, December 18, 1956, to the union of Leroy P. LeBlanc and Rita G. LeBlanc. He was a 1974 graduate of New Iberia Senior High School and a lifelong resident of New Iberia.

Wayne started working at a young age alongside his dad as a Sugar Cane farmer for LeBlanc Farms, where he worked for several years. He then worked at Cargill Salt on Avery Island for 21 years. He was a faithful worker until his battle with cancer forced him into an early retirement. In his spare time, he became a self-taught sinker cypress craftsman. Wayne became truly remarkable at creating beautiful cypress tables, cutting boards, charcuterie items, and many other custom-made woodworks. In addition to his cypress crafting, Wayne thoroughly enjoyed saltwater fishing. He had his favorite fishing spots which he freely shared with his buddies especially his cousin Frank Briganti. Even when his failing health prevented Wayne from going out on his own, he continued to frequent his favorite fishing spots with the help of his cousins Liz and Eddie Toups.

Wayne’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. One of his greatest loves was being “Paw” to all his grandchildren and his one favorite great grandson. He adored each and every one of them. Because of this love for his family, Wayne fought a courageous and inspirational battle for 12 years against Medullary Carcinoma. Through this great love, he vowed to never give up.

On Wednesday, June 10, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, Wayne, at the blessed age of 69, defeated cancer by transitioning to his eternal home. His life and love will be forever remembered by his caregiver and loving wife of 24 years, Dianne Bourgeois LeBlanc; his two children: Jeremy LeBlanc (Maxwell Jones) of Chicago, Illinois, and Lindsay LeBlanc Chastant (Jason) of Loreauville, Louisiana; his step-daughter, Misty LeBlanc (Sean Hulin) of New Iberia; six loving grandchildren: Addison and Emerson LeBlanc; Amelia and Luke Chastant; Brantley Champagne and Lanie Gautreaux ( fiancé’ Cade Guidry); one great-grandson, Winston Guidry; one sister, Mary Ellen Andrus (Michael) of New Iberia, LA and his niece Erica Andrus of Baton Rouge, LA; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Wayne will be greatly missed by his two faithful fur babies Buster and Bear who were never far away from his side.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Emily Bourgeois and his father-in-law Rufus Bourgeois.

The family of Wayne LeBlanc would like to thank everyone for their kind expressions, phone calls, visits, flowers, words of encouragement, thoughts, and prayers. The family would like to give special thanks and gratitude to his team of doctors at M.D. Anderson; Dr. Panelli of Acadiana Cancer Center of Lafayette; his nurses, Tricia Romero and Laura Thibodeaux with Hospice of Acadiana; his Cargill family; and last but not least his brother -in-law Michael Andrus for driving the many, many trips to and from M. D. Anderson which would not have been possible without his kind generosity.

Funeral Services will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on June 15, 2026. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Deacon Chris Doumit will officiate

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Monday from 8:30 am until time of service. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 9:30 am.

Pallbearers are Michael Andrus, Lynn Bayard, Frank Briganti, Sonny Esteve, Timmy Romero, and Eddie Toups

Honorary pallbearers include Brantley Champagne, Daniel Frioux, Jason Chastant, & Maxwell Jones
