Wayne Roberts

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m., on Monday, March 7, 2011, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Wayne Christopher Roberts, Sr., 55, who died on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his residence. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Fr. Justin Arockiasamy, SVD, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. The scripture readings will be read by Sharelle Batiste and Channing Guidry. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1973 to 1979, and was employed as a courier with FedEx for 27 years. He was a lifelong parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church, where he assisted in organizing their annual church fair. A 'Jack-of-All-Trades,' Wayne specialized in mechanic and plumbing work and always said 'If you cant do it right, dont do it at all.' He was always willing and able to help anyone whenever they needed his assistance. Wayne will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Edith Marie George Roberts of St. Martinville; three sons, Wayne C. Roberts, Jr., Brandon J. Roberts, and Bryce C. Roberts, and all of St. Martinville; his mother, Anna Belle Guidry of St. Martinville; four brothers, Rodney Roberts (Genevieve) of Breaux Bridge, Shantley Guidry ( Lori) of Chicago, IL, Graylin Guidry (Donna), and Kendall Guidry (Leslie), all of Houston, TX; and two grandchildren, Keion J. and Sklar M. Roberts. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Guidry; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Roberts. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Monday from 7 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Pall Bearers will be McBride Roberts, Marvin Ambrose, Jr., Clyde Gedward, Arthur Gedward, Phillip Simon, Jr., and Chris George.
