Breaux Bridge, Louisiana - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, December 19, 2025 at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Wayne B. Savoy, 77, who passed away on December 14, 2025, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Deacon Dennis Landry will officiate at the funeral service.
Wayne Bernard Savoy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Wayne lived a life rich with purpose and commitment, leaving behind a legacy of service and love.
Wayne was a proud graduate of Breaux Bridge Senior High School, Class of 1966. After graduation, he embarked on a path that would define his life-enlisting in the military, where he served an impressive 30 years. During his distinguished military career, Wayne received numerous awards and medals, including the Meritorious Service Medal and multiple Army Commendation Medals, among others. He participated in significant military activations, including the Civil Rights Movement in Baton Rouge and the Desert Storm/Desert Shield operations, ultimately retiring in 1998.

Military Activations: Civil Rights - Baton Rouge, Police Strike - New Orleans, and Desert Storm/Desert Shield.
Military Positions: Squad Leader - Company A 2/156, Recruiter - HQ's Jackson Barracks, Platoon Sergeant - Company A 2/156 Infantry, Platoon Sergeant - D 2/156 Infantry, First Sergeant - Company D 2/156, and Operations Sergeant HQ's 2/156 Infantry BM. Master Sergeant/ E-8.
After his military service, Wayne continued to serve his community as a dedicated officer with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office for 15 years, rising to the position of Warden of the Breaux Bridge Jail. He later lent his expertise as a Jail Consultant to the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office. Then worked for St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center as Maintenance Supervisor.
Wayne was more than his career; he was a man of many passions. He found joy in hunting and fishing, crafting duck calls with his son, woodworking, gardening, and cooking. A lover of music, Wayne often spent his evenings listening to country and French tunes, surrounded by the warmth of his home and family. He cherished time with his devoted first wife of over 40 years Penny and his second wife Melissa of 3 years and was immeasurably proud of his beautiful children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many friends and relatives who enriched his life.
Wayne Bernard Savoy's life was a testament to dedication, resilience, and loving service. As we gather to celebrate his life and legacy, we invite friends, family, and community members to share their memories and honor a man whose impact will be felt for generations to come. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa A. Tarter Savoy; daughter, Melinda (Tony) Latiolais; son, Gerald "Buudy" (Hillary) Savoy; step-daughters, Jennie (Jeremy) Falcon and Mercedes (Dustin) Fusilier; grandchildren, Brian (Caitlin) Latiolais, Kyle (Mayomi) Latiolais, Austin (Amber) Savoy, Angelle (Jordan) Savoy, Hunter (Malyn) Savoy, and Lane Savoy; great-grandchildren, Presli and Weslynn Savoy, Lylah and Rowyn Latiolais, and Ava Thibodeaux; step grandchildren, Alexis, Hazel, Lee Ann, and Jeremy Falcon, Jr., Remi and Dustin Fusilier; and his best friend, Ricky "Brother" Garret.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Claudia Savoy; former spouse, Penny Ann Savoy; daughter, Melissa Ann "Missie" Savoy; brother, Larry S. Savoy; maternal grandparents, Charles and Alma Boudreaux; and paternal grandparents, Hypolite and Marie Derouselle Savoy.
