Wilbert was a devoted family man who cherished gatherings with loved ones, creating memories over home-cooked meals, and sharing in friendly Bourré games. His spirit came alive during camping trips with friends, and he enjoyed the great outdoors, where he spent many joyful hours hunting and fishing in his younger years. His sense of adventure extended to his work as a sugarcane farmer and partner at Albert Brothers Farm, and he later made a name for himself in the oilfield as a skilled welder and cook. In the 1980s, he proudly owned and operated Albert's Shell, a testament to his dedication to his work and community.
A proud veteran of the National Guard, Wilbert also found fulfillment in serving his community as a former member of the Coteau Holmes Volunteer Fire Department and the St. Martinville Jaycees. His commitment to service extended further into his faith, as a proud member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes.
