Breaux Bridge, Louisiana- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2026 at St. Bernard Catholic Church honoring the life of William D. "Mr. Bill" LeGrand, 79, who passed away on January 7, 2026 at Calcutta House (Hospice of Acadiana).
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 8:00 AM. until 12:30 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Friday.
Rev. Garrett McIntryre will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Janice Eddy and Nikkie Devillier. Gift bearers will be Lane LeGrand, Sawyer Eddy and Arya Eddy.
Burial will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
William David LeGrand, a cherished husband, father, and friend, will be remembered fondly after his passing on January 7, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on December 24, 1946, in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, William dedicated his life to his family, his community, and his enduring passion for service.
A devoted maintenance worker for the Lafayette Parish School system, he played a vital role in fostering a nurturing environment for countless children. With a heart for public service, he proudly served as a City Councilman for the Town of Henderson for 24 years and contributed 30 years to the Lafayette Parish School system. Even in retirement, his love for his community persisted as he joined the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department, where he continued to serve those around him.
William relished the simple pleasures of life; cooking, hunting, fishing, and spending time at his beloved camp, where friends and family were always welcome to join in the festivities, especially during his favorite holiday, Mardi Gras. His warmth and generosity created lasting memories, drawing everyone together to celebrate the joys of life.
His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of many, but he will forever be remembered for the laughter he shared and the love he instilled in those fortunate enough to know him. William's legacy of kindness and commitment to family and community will endure in the cherished memories of his family. .
As we gather to honor William's incredible spirit, we invite all who knew him to share in celebrations that reflect the joy and warmth he brought to our lives. While his physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Monique LeBlanc; daughters, Domonique (Daniel Periou) Dugas and Janice (Jon Ross ) Eddy; niece, Meagan Dugas; grandchildren, Bryson Periou, Sawyer Eddy, Arya Eddy, Wyatt Periou, and Joslyn Dugas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen LeGrand and Janice LeGrand; brothers, Carrol LeGrand and Russell LeGrand; sister, Peggy Guidry; cousin, Randy LeGrand; nephew, Guy Dugas; niece, Monique Dugas; sister-in-law, Cecile LeGrand; and his godchild, Jonas LeGrand.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Periou, Jon Ross Eddy, Michael Theriot, Kelly Theriot, Shannon Smith and Bryson Periou.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren, Don LeGrand and Chad Huval.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Calcutta Hospice for their compassion and care for their loved one.
