For many years, Wilson worked in the dairy industry, beginning at St. Charles College where he operated the dairy and then working for Clover Farm Dairy in Sunset. After leaving the dairy industry, he worked as a Carpenter until his retirement.

Wilson was a devout Catholic and had unwavering faith throughout the trials of life. One of his greatest passions was squirrel hunting and spending time outdoors. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Tate Dressel; grandchildren, Lori Marks Granger (Doug), Annie Marks Viator (Hank) and Adam Marks; great-grandchildren, Corbin Thibodeaux, Andrew Marks, Hailey Viator, Heidi Viator and Logan Granger; sisters, Louella Knott and Bertha Wilks (John); and brothers, J.L. Tate and Nelson Joseph Tate (Randie).

He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Bernice Knott Tate; son, Ronald Joseph Tate; son-in-law, Kendall Dressel; parents, Simon Tate and Leola Stelly Tate; and brothers, Ira Tate, Leroy Tate, John Tate and Allen Tate.

Pallbearers will be Troy Tate, Rodney Tate, Adam Marks, Andrew Marks, Craig Knott and Doug Granger.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Roger Tate.
