Wilton J. Demouchet, Sr.

Breaux Bridge- A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 21, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Wilton James Demouchet Sr., 72, who passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 AM on Saturday.

Rev. George-Bede Ajuruchi, SSJ will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Reader will be Aaron Noel. Gift bearers will be Johen Duhon and Zarian Derousselle.

Wilton was born on November 25, 1951, in Lafayette. He attended Carver High School and then spent eight years working as a cook offshore before moving on to a fulfilling career with Louisiana Delta Railroad, where he eventually retired. A dedicated worker and a wonderful provider for his family, Wilton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a great fan of the New Orleans Saints and the Breaux Bridge Tigers.  Every Saturday, he would wake up early to treat his grandkids to boudin and donuts. His passion for cooking extended to many gatherings, including parties, weddings, baby showers, and special events, and he cherished tending to his garden. Wilton will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rita Hypolite Demouchet of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Wilton J. Demouchet, Jr. (Crystal) of Youngsville and Jordan Demouchet of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Tinasha Sam of Breaux Bridge; brothers, Maurice Demouchet, Kent Demouchet (Dorothy), both of Breaux Bridge, Walter Demouchet, Jr. (Rosalyn) of Abbeville, Clyde Ledet and Eric Washington, both of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Roxanne Demouchet (Ted), Deniece Washington, and Cynthia Landry of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Chloe Demouchet, Cole Demouchet, Carli Demouchet, Traylyln Sam, Jamal Frederick, Kylie Frederick and Toni Chaisson; two great grandchildren, Zhuni Martin and Talyx Sam; godchild, Chequolin Patt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ted Diego, Melvin Hypolite, Shelton Joseph, Anthony Bernard, Alma H. Alexander, Delores H. Joseph, Debra H. Domonter, Deidra Hypolite, and Deena H. Bernard; a special niece who he liked to travel with, Kizzy Demouchet; and a host of uncles, aunts, relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Demouchet, Sr. and Marie Camille Joseph Demouchet; siblings, Otis Demouchet, Veronica Joseph, Marie C. Morgan, Judy Savoy, and Alfreda Francis; paternal grandparents, Harrison and Mary Demouchet; maternal grandparents, Gilbert Joseph, Sr. and Louise Lewis; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Elsie Hypolite. 

Pallbearers will be McKinley Demouchet, Sr., Everett Thomas, Scorie Demouchet, Artemus Demouchet, Adrien Menard, and Joseph Demouchet.

Honorary pallbearers will be Maurice Demouchet, Walter Demouchet, Jr., Kent Demouchet, Eric Washington, Cashin Demouchet, Talitia Demouchet, Mike Boyd, Henry Gobar, Evans Ozen, Izrael Ledet, Kenneth Demonter, John Lewis, Emile Henry, Shawn Gradney, Leonard Francis, Willie Brown, John Stewart, Timothy Henry, Craig Batiste, Cole Demouchet, Orel Ledet, Sr., Orel Ledet, Jr., Damon Guidry, Paul Bearers, Toicy Babineaux, Jr., Mckinley Demouchet, Jr., and James Demouchet.

We would like to thank two special friends, sister-in-laws and the entire family that helped during the funeral.
