New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Yvonne Melancon LeBlanc, 89 who died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in New Iberia . Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery . Rev. Gary Schexnayder will be the Celebrant. Having been widowed at the age of 39, Mrs. LeBlanc devoted her life to raising her nine children, and will always be remembered as being an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Yvonne devoted her entire life to her family and passed on her Catholic faith to her 9 children, 28 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren, with another due in November. 'Mom' will fondly be remembered as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who would never 'say no' to anyone in need which exemplified her self-less giving and compassionate spirit. Mrs. LeBlanc retired from Iberia Parish Government after 32 years of service. She was an avid LSU sports fan and could always be found cheering for the Tigers. Football was her passion, but she enjoyed all Tiger sports. Survivors include her sons, Thomas LeBlanc and wife Mary Carol of New Iberia, Richard "Dickie" LeBlanc and wife Sharon of New Iberia, Alton LeBlanc and wife Wendy of Youngsville, Kevin LeBlanc and wife Valery of New Iberia, Dean LeBlanc of New Iberia; daughters, Betty Boudreaux of New Iberia, Yvonne Derouen of New Iberia; daughters-in-law, Mary Dean LeBlanc of New Iberia, Brenda LeBlanc Scott of New Iberia; brother, Edward Melancon and wife Doris of Prairieville; 28 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and one great grandchild due to arrive in November. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee A. LeBlanc; parents, Easley and Inez Braud Melancon; sons, Wayne LeBlanc, Tim LeBlanc; step son, L.A. LeBlanc; sons-in-law, Arvel Boudreaux, Tim Derouen; great grandchild, William Eastin; sister, Yvette Sandifer; brothers, Joe Melancon and Kirby Melancon. Pallbearers will be Thomas LeBlanc, Richard LeBlanc, Alton LeBlanc, Kevin LeBlanc, Dean LeBlanc, Bodie Boudreaux, Brad LeBlanc, and Kent LeBlanc. The family would like to give special thanks to Mrs. LeBlanc's caregivers Ella, Barbara, and Kathleen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic High Endowment Fund, 1301 DeLaSalle Drive , New Iberia , LA 70560 . A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday.
