Catahoula-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 18, 2026 at St. Rita Catholic Church honoring the life of Zachary J. Barras, 25, who passed away on May 14, 2026.
A visitation will take place at Dion Hall in Catahoula on Monday, May 18, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Monday.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the funeral mass. Reader will be Jackie Schexnayder.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Zachary James Barras, born on January 22, 2001, left us too soon on May 14, 2026. He was a free spirit who loved the outdoors. He was known for his passion for hunting, crawfishing, fishing, and mud riding on his four-wheelers. Those who knew him can attest that the great outdoors was truly where he thrived, and his adventurous spirit will be missed by all who loved him.
Zach was a devoted father to his two cherished daughters, Lizzie and Adalyn. His girls were his world, and he dedicated his life to making memories with them.
He is survived by his father, Dale Barras, Sr.; siblings, Joannie Comeaux (Austin), Paul Robin, and Dale "T-Boy" Barras, Jr. (Erica); daughters, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Barras and her mom, Mia Foti, and Adalyn Barras and her mom & his girlfriend of 4 years, Megan Tate; and his nieces and nephews, Amanda Sonnier, Hannah Comeaux, Avery Comeaux, Dre' Huval, Denver Barras, and Eloise Barras.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth "Liz" Robin Barras; brother-in-law, Blake Comeaux; maternal grandparents, Wiley and Shirley Robin and paternal grandparents, Floyd and Theresa Barras.
Pallbearers will be Dale "T-Boy" Barras, Austin Huval, Avery Comeaux, Logan Smith, Kass Ferguson, and Luke Dugas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Robin, Brandon Lemaire, and Isaiah Latiolais.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
