St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 23, 2025 at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Zayde Willis, 1, who passed away on May 16, 2025 at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Friday from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm.
Pastor Gabe Smith will officiate at the funeral service. Burial will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum.
Zayde was born on March 17, 2024 in Lafayette. Zayde was the embodiment of happiness and wonder. With a smile that could light up any room, he possessed an infectious joy that drew people to him, bringing warmth and love to those fortunate enough to be in his presence. Nicknamed affectionately as Zman, faebaebae, tootie, Z, and pumpkin, each name held a piece of the unique personality that made him so beloved.
From a young age, Zayde showed a zest for life that was truly inspirational. He adored the song Gracie's Corner and could often be found animatedly watching his favorite show, Bluey. He loved to express himself, often delighting in the words "no" and "stop it," showcasing a playful spirit that kept everyone on their toes. His affinity for playful mischief was evident, and he brought a sense of adventure to every interaction, including his fondness for climbing and swimming, where he would splash and giggle with pure glee.
Zayde had a particular love for food, especially bread, showing a keen interest in whatever anyone else ate. His little hands would reach out, eager to share in the delight of every meal. This curious little boy loved playing with hair, and his gentle touch revealed a treasured innocence that touched the hearts of those around him.
Strong beyond his years, Zayde revealed a spirit that could conquer any challenge with ease. He approached life with a resilience that belied his tender age, leaving a legacy not just in memories but in the vibrant impact he had on family and friends alike.
His love for football and playing ball was evident in all aspects of his short but joy-filled journey.
Though his journey was short, Zayde Willis leaves behind a lasting impression of joy, laughter, and love. He will be forever remembered as a happy and smiley baby, whose presence brought light into the lives of those who were lucky enough to know him. In the hearts of his family and loved ones, Zayde's spirit will live on, treasured and cherished for eternity.
He is survived by his father, Chaz Willis; mother, Krislynn Ledoux; grandparents, Brent and Tracy Ledoux, Kristian Gerald, Kristen Willis and Phoenicia Neveu; great-grandparents, Evelina Walker and Donald Ledoux, Jr.; aunts, Ashley Castille, Dominique Richard and her spouse, Tray Richard, Micah Castille, Jacqueline Ledoux, Jennifer Domec and Michelle Tobat; uncles, Ryan Castille, Cole Brigola, Tyler Ledoux, Jamaal Fontenette, Jaylon Fontenette and Logan Jenkins; Godmother, Reagan Malveaux; Godfather, Bradyn Lee and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jamaal Fontenette, great grandparents, Joan Kidder, Dane Walker and Julie and Charles Willis.
